Introduction to the site

Going to university can be a challenging time for students - even more so for a tutor when you have to advise on options after college, school or other institution.

This site is aimed at pointing out to students the benefits of university and how to avoid the problems students may encounter in getting to university.

More importantly for tutors the site will provide a resource bank for you to answer questions that students may ask, eg:

  • Is university for me?
  • What financial support is available?
  • When should I apply to University
  • I have a disability – what support will be provided?
  • I have children – can I really balance family and study?
  • I am worried about leaving home?
  • I cannot manage without the support I had at college / school?
  • What is university life like?
  • Will my beliefs and cultural needs be respected at University?
  • I am a mature student - what will it be like being around younger people?

Why use this site?

We have a lot of experience in supporting students through their university careers and enabling them to meet their full potential. We know that, along the way, there can be unexpected difficulties and barriers for very many students.

This site is intended for all students, not just those who have chosen UCE.
